Up to 384GB of RAM can be installed when both CPU sockets are populated. The DL380 G7 has 18 RAM slots, divided up via (3) memory channels per CPU (6 total per server.) For the best performance, memory should be evenly installed among all available memory channels.

The DL380 G7 was the last HP DL380 server to use HP's first generation SAS bracket. Gen8 (G8) servers superceding the G7 use the new HP Smart Tray which is NOT backward compatible.

The DL380 G7 server shipped from the factory with either a 6-Bay 3.5" LFF Drive Cage or 8-Bay 2.5" (SFF) drive cage. If you do not have an optical (DVD / CD-ROM) drive installed, a second 8-Bay SFF drive cage can be installed in addition to the base eight drive cage.
