Overview

The HP Modular Smart Array MSA50 and MSA70 offer large storage expansion options for Proliant and Integrity Servers using HP SmartArray RAID controllers and HBAs. The MSA70 can be used as direct attached storage (DAS) for servers or combined with an MSA2324fc SAN array.The MSA50 and MSA70 operate at 1.5Gbps and 3.0Gbps link rates.

The MSA50 can support up to (10) SFF (Small Form Factor) SAS or SATA disk modules. Drive types can be intermixed in the same array.

The MSA70 can support up to (25) SFF (Small Form Factor) SAS or SATA disk modules. Drive types can be intermixed in the same array. An optional second IO module can be used with HP SC44Ge host bus adaptors in OpenVMS and HP-UX environments to form multi-initiator JBOD clusters.
