Overview

The HP Netserver Rack Storage / 12 accommodates up to (12) low profile 1" disk modules or (8) half-height (1.6") disk modules per enclosure. Up to (13) storage enclosures can fit into a standard 2M rack.

Power supplies, cooling fans, and SCSI control cards are all redundant and hot-swappable. The standard Ultra3 SCSI interface can be upgraded to Fibre Channel for increased distances between the host and storage shelves.

HP's original specification for the Rack Storage / 12 only allowed for (8) 73.4 GB 10K RPM disk drives to be installed as, at the time, these high capacity drives were only available in half-height 1.6" form. Up to (12) 73.4 GB 10K RPM drives can now be installed when 1" (Low Profile) 73GB drives are used instead.
