Overview

The IBM x3650 servers span across four generations, designated M1-M4. The x3650 is IBM's workhorse server address a large variety of CPU, RAM, and/or storage intensive applications. It directly competes with the HP DL380 series.

New generations of the x3650 correlate to new Intel CPU architecture updates. In most cases, CPUs use different sockets between each generation of server so upgrades are limited.
