Model 1B can support up to (16) 1GB DIMMs, though "N+1" protection is not available with configurations above 8GB. Memory is installed in groups of (4).

Disk drives are added to internal drive cage. Up to (6) 300GB 15K U320 High Speed SCSI drives can be installed. (Tape drives may be installed as well, which require 2 slots.)
