Overview

The IBM® System Storage® DCS3700/DCS3860 consists of IBM System Storage DCS storage subsystem and IBM System Storage DCS expansion units. The DCS3700 Gen2 and DCS3860 features the latest technologies, including 12 Gbps SAS and 16 Gbps Fibre Channel host interfaces, along with 6 and 12 Gbps SAS drives. The DCS also features a 10 Gbps iSCSI host interface with an optional Performance Modules system.

2TB, 3TB, 4TB, 6TB 7200rpm 6Gb NL-SAS 3.5 inch HDD
300GB 15K rpm, 600GB, 900GB, 1.2TB 10K rpm, 6Gb SAS 2.5 inch HDD
400GB, 800GB, 1.6TB SAS 2.5 inch SSD

DCS3860 / EXP3800 supported drives include:
4TB 7.2K 6Gb NL-SAS 3.5 inch HDD
300GB 15K rpm 6Gb 2.5 inch HDD

Enabling T10 PI funtionality between the storage controller and disk drives helps to ensure data integrity at the drive level. T10 PI requires the use of PI capable 520 Bytes per Sector formatted disk drives. T10 PI capable drives can be used with or without the T10 PI function enabled and can be intermixed within a storage enclosure or across storage systems with non-PI formatted drives.

The DCS3700/DCS3860 provides a simple, efficient, and flexible approach to storage that is based on eight generations of design knowledge and firmware development. The DCS3700/DCS3860 can act as a cost-effective and fully integrated complement to IBM System x® servers, IBM BladeCenter®, and IBM Power Systems™ for various intensive computing environments.
