Overview

The IBM 2076 is the hardware component of the IBM Storwize V7000 Gen2 disk system. The Storwize V7000 is a highly scalable virtualized, enterprise-class, flash-optimized storage system designed to consolidate workloads into a single system for ease of management, reduced costs, superior performance, and high availability.

The IBM Storwize V7000 Gen2 is available in the following models:
• 2076-524 Storwize V7000 SFF Control Enclosure Model 524
• 2076-12F Storwize V7000 LFF Expansion Enclosure Model 12F
• 2076-24F Storwize V7000 SFF Expansion Enclosure Model 24F
• 2076-92F Storwize V7000 HD LFF Expansion Enclosure Model 92F

All the IBM Storwize V7000 Control Enclosures and IBM Storwize V7000 Expansion Enclosures can be accommodate SAS, Nearline SAS, and SSD disk drives. All drives are dual-port and hot-swappable. All drives can be intermixed within the enclosure they are designed for. LFF and SFF expansion enclosures can be intermixed behind the SFF control enclosure.

Important IBM Storwize V7000 Gen2 Notes:
- Storwize V7000 (Gen2) Model 524 systems can be added into existing Storwize V7000 clustered systems that include previous generation Storwize V7000 (Gen1) systems. All systems within a cluster must be using the same version of Storwize V7000 software.

- The V7000 (Gen2) Model 524 control enclosure supports only the attachment of V7000 (Gen2) Model 12F, 24F, and 92F expansion enclosures and HDDs. Previous generation Storwize V7000 (Gen1) expansion enclosures (Models 212 and 224) and HDD's are not supported with the V7000 (Gen2) Model 524 control enclosure.

- V7000 (Gen2) Model 12F, 24F, and 92F expansion enclosures are only supported for attachment to V7000 (Gen2) Models 524 and 624 control enclosures. Previous generation Storwize V7000 (Gen1) control enclosures (Models 112, 124, 312, and 324) do not support the attachment of V7000 (Gen2) Model 12F,24F, and 92F expansion enclosures.

- Disk Drives in the IBM Storwize V7000 Gen2 Controllers and expansion enclosures must have the appropiate Drive Vendor ID ( e.g. IBM-D050 ) and the approriate FRU Part Number displayed in the Vital Product Data (VPD) Drive Properties details in order to be supported. All of the IBM drives listed on this page meet these requirements for full support on the IBM Branded V7000 Gen2).
