Overview
The IBM EXP810 expansion enclosure allows you to add up to 16 3.5" disk modules to your DS4300 (Turbo Online), DS4700 and DS5000 series storage servers. Disks may either be Fibre Channel or SATA E-DDMs (Enhanced Disk Drive Modules). SATA disk modules require a SATA-FC Interposer Card and can be intermixed with Fibre drives in the same enclosure with appropriate FC-SATA intermix licenses.
Please note that the EXP810 is a 4Gbps capable enclosure. A switch on the front of the EXP810 can force the EXP810 to operate on 2Gbps FC loops with older EXP710 arrays or use older 2Gbps FC disk drives. DO NOT install a 2Gbps FC disk module into a 4Gbps loop.
***ALL 10K RPM FC disk modules operate at 2Gbps. Most 15K FC disk modules are 4Gbps***

Notes:
- The EXP810 is supported attached to the DS5020 and DS3950 with the purchase of appropriate premium feature pack.
- The EXP810 is supported attached to DS5100/DS5300 storage subsystem via RPQs.
- The EXP810 with ESM firmware 9898 or higher is supported attaching to the DS4300, DS4500, DS4700, and DS4800 subsystems with controller firmware version 6.23.xx.xx and later. Version 9898 and higher is also required to support the intermix of EXP710 and EXP810 with EXP100 storage expansion enclosures behind the DS4300, DS4500, DS4700 and DS4800 storage subsystems with controller firmware version 6.23.xx.xx, 6.60.xx.xx and 7.xx.xx.xx and to support the intermixing of the Fibre Channel and SATA E- DDMs within the EXP810 drive expansion enclosure in any storage subsystem configuration.
- The DS4000 storage subsystem controller firmware version 06.16.xx.xx or higher is required for EXP810 drive expansion enclosure attachment.
- DS5000 EXP5000, mixed with EXP810s are supported attached to DS5100/DS5300 storage subsystems at ESM firmware level 98C2 and higher. 98C1 is the initial ESM firmware level for the DS5000 EXP5000.
