Overview
The DELL PowerVault MD1000 is a 3Gbps Direct Attach Storage (DAS) device. It can be used to add capacity to a PowerVault MD3000 / MD3000i SAN head, or to add capacity to a PowerEdge server with an external SAS connector. Such connectors can be found on PERC 5e / 6e RAID controllers.
Use the MD1000 with dual I/O modules for VMWare and Hyper-V High Availability via CSVs (clustered shared volumes) among two servers.

Supports 15x LFF 3.5" SAS / SATA Disk Modules. Up to (3) enclosures can be daisy chained to a SAS controller, adding 45 drives to a PERC Controller. Daisy chaining is not supported on split bus configurations. SATA drives should be installed with a SATA multiplexer / interposer. This allows for dual port connectivity between I/O modules. NL SAS and 10K / 15K SAS drives do NOT require an interposer.
