Overview

The IBM x336 (Type 8837) is a 1U rack mount server. Up to (2) 3.4Ghz Intel Xeon CPUs with an 800MHz FSB (Front Side Bus) can be installed for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP). (8) memory slots allow for the installation of 16GB of PC3200 ECC Registered memory which must be installed in matching pairs of RDIMMs. [Note: You must be running a 64-Bit Operating System or 32-Bit OS with Physical Address Extension PAE support to address memory above the 4GB barrier.]

Drive Configuration Options:

Most x336 servers shipped with two external 3.5" SCSI drive bays that can support 300GB 10K U320 SCSI disk modules. Other configurations offered either (2) 3.5" SATA drive bays or (4) small form factor (SFF) U320 SCSI drive bays. Drive types are not interchangeable. Systems ship with integrated RAID-1 support. Optional ServeRAID cards can be installed for RAID-5 protection and the addition of external EXP400 disk drive expansion arrays.
