Overview

The IBM x345 (8670) is a highly scalable rack mount server. Up to (2) 3.2Ghz Intel Xeon CPUs with a 533MHz FSB (Front Side Bus) can be installed for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP). (4) memory slots allow for the installation of 8GB of PC2100 ECC Registered memory which must be installed in matching pairs of RDIMMs. [Note: You must be running a 64-Bit Operating System or 32-Bit OS with Physical Address Extension PAE support to address memory above the 4GB barrier.]

Up to (6) 300GB U320 SCSI disk modules can be installed in the front bays of the server. RAID (1) support is available onboard and an optional IBM ServeRAID controller can be used to add RAID-5 protection across the internal drives and the addition of external EXP400 expansion arrays for increased storage.
